I have a 24 gallon nanocube with live rock and sand, a carpet anenome, a couple of emerald crabs, 4 snails, a clownfish (nemo), an orange spotted goby, and a six striped wrasse (our newest addition). Today I noticed something that resembles a spider web growing between 2 of our live rocks - What is it??? Good, bad? This is our first saltwater tank so any advice would be helpful. Thanks

I dont know the name of it but a certain snail (correct me If im wrong) will leave a trail of web behind it. I don't know if they are good though, if anything, they are bad.
Umh, I don't know what the slime or string is,I'd guess sponge but, hey that's my normal standby guess for strange critters. What I wanted to say was your carpet will quite likely cause you some issues . For one thing the lions share of them get really big and for another other than the clowns evey thing else in your tank is on it's list of things to eat. I'm not say panic and get rid of it or set up a tank and jerk it out or anything crazy like that but, keep in mind that it will eat/sting anything it touches except for the clowns.

Had one once that was really cool to watch. It would let out a web then pull it in with what looked sometimes to be two tentacles. It lived in a rocky tube permanently attached to a rock. The tube was about 1/4" long. I believe my Bumblebee Snail got it... It is harmless.
