I need a new light for my 75g. It is a community tank that is heavily planted that I dose with ferts (no CO2) and was using a 48 inch Coralife, 4-compact fluorescent bulb light that is 65watts each but am giving this one up. I am looking for a light with night lights so I can see what’s going on in the tank and then turn the night lights off when I go to bed and would like to move into T5 bulbs but I don't know much about them other than they are smaller than T8's :) . Do you have any suggestions as to what lighting system would be good for my tank? I did consider LED lighting but I am not sure about how the plants would do with that type of light. IDK—but I think they’d die off so I kinda put the LED option out of my mind for now. I was thinking of this light: http://www.ebay.com/itm/48-Coralife-Lunar-Aqualight-4-Lamp-T5-HO-Fixture-/350442204206?_trksid=p3286.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D2906121958691211500 and swapping out the coral lights for a more plant friendly light. Any suggestions or places to find a comparable less expensive light would be appreciated.

A wide, two tube T5HO will do a 75g tank just fine.
A relatively inexpensive option is T5HO strips from your local hydroponics store. Reflectors are sold as well there. Total should be under $100.00.

light.jpg This is nice and the price is awesome!! $89.95 with free shipping! I am guessing that the Odyssea brand is a chinese brand? I don't think I've ever heard of that manufacturer before. Would three bulbs be enough for the 75g? The only thing that concerns me though is the mounting brackets. I have glass tops so these won't work. I don't see any grooves to use those plastic legs like on other lights. Any suggestions from folks who are handy (because I am not to handy :))?

That Aquatraders.com site has some killer low pricing for lights as well. They are selling the Odyssea brand as well.
