Hey everyone -

I just bought a used 55 gallon tank from a guy that was going to remodel the room that the tank was in. I got the tank, nice oak stand, magnum 350, stealth heater, python, two powerheads, and some other stuff for $100, can't beat that.

Anyways, he had already taken all of his fish back to the LFS except for his pleco and I ended up bringing him home. I hadn't planned on keeping it but I figured it would be better to keep/take to the LFS than have him take it outside and euthanize.

Here are some pictures of it and I was wondering if somebody could let me know if it is just a common or another species.

Thanks in advance.

it looks like a common pleco to me. Could you get a better picture of it?
It's kind of hard to see it's coloring in the bucket.

That's probably about as good as I can do picture wise

I didn't even get to see the side yesterday - looks like a sailfin, heres a picture of the side.

Another update - he has been given the name 'Ralph'

It is not a gibby. Glyptopericythys gibbiceps has 12-13 dorsal rays. The plec pictured only has 7. It is a hypostomus species, either punctatus or plecostomus.
