I have been planning on buliding my own paludarium with a 75 gallon tank, my plan is to divide the land and water with plexiglass. A submersible pump will run water thru pvc pipe into a waterfall, this is where i will house the filter. I also plan to build a screen canopy ontop of the glass. The animals i want are some anoles, green tree frogs and maybe a whites tree frog for the land. And in the water a few corys and prob just a school of neons. I want to make the thing look as natural as i possibly can, feedback from anyone with experience would be great

Here is a picture i made to better describe my plan

I wouldn't mix that combination of anole and tree frogs. This is because they are both going to be in the branches and top part of the tank making it crowded,so maybe something for the bottom. Have you measured how many gallons of H20 the this setup will hold?I had great experience with anole and FBT,but again i would not mix that combination of anole and tree frogs.

Specifically White's treefrogs should not be kept with anything that could possibly fit in their mouths-which includes green treefrogs and many anoles. There has also been some earlier discussion here about anoles in paludaria, and the consensus seems to be- don't do it.

If you want more than one species in the top, I suggest a mixture of treefrogs of similar size and from the same area; e.g. green and gray treefrogs, or two kinds of African reed frogs, etc.

I concur with Noto, I would be vary wary of adding lizards to the top. The one thing I would consider possibly, would be perhaps something along the lines of house geckos Hemidactylus frenatus. Frogs such as African reed frogs or grey/greens, or even Pacific Tree Frogs would be good choices

the biggest problem i have with the construction of the actual thing is how to build a screen top big enough for a 75 gal tank, does anyone have an idea of how to do this?

yep, glass top are best for paludarium for reasons like humidity, and decreases chance of inhabitants of ecaping. My idea would be some sort of reed frogs and maybe some mantellas and some african dwarf frogs with endlers or guppy if you have enough water.

What I would do is make a wooden frame over the 75 gallon tank, then staple or glue window screen between the frames so you get a screen top. I would personally go with only green anoles for the top part of the tank and not try to mix anything up.

If you simply want a lot of vertical room.. I used to have a 150 - 200gal vertical tank as a "grow out" tank for Chinese Water Dragons. I had the whole water feature/tree branches thing going on inside. I wish I could remember what I did with it...

i do not have money for a tank that big, and i want the screen so i can get the effect of all levels of the rainforest, the water table, low wet ground, plants and then the screen would be the canopy, just like the real thing the humidity would be at the bottom where the air would be cooler up top
