Help identify white spot on pleco head?

Well, that was definitely good advice! He is apparently a leopard peckolitia (L147)--that pic looks exactly like mine. And he will definitely starve to death on algae since he doesn't even eat much of that!! ::note to self:: NEVER listen to LFS--do own research. Thanks for the help!
 
Glad you found the correct info on what he needs. He's a beautiful pleco. Good luck with him and keep us posting on how he and his tankmates are doing.
 
Update: I'm afraid to say it

but things *might* be looking up...

Nobody's eating still and I lost another fish yesterday. I figured what could it hurt? So I decided to start antibiotics and see what happened.

Well, no one has eaten anything still that I can tell. My pleco, who has been dubbed "Spartan" since he's the valiant warrior battling for his existence, (my 14-yr old is into history--especially of war), was hanging around last night--which has been rare and this morning when I got up he was attached to a rock with his fins all fanned out. Yea!

I hope these are good signs and he'll eat something substantial soon. I assume he's eating someting or he surely would have starved in 7 days. I've tried peas and bits of potato in addition to the usual shrimp pellet and algae disc. If I can only get him to eat I can hold out hope.
 
You don't mention your water change regimen. Water quality should always be your first plan of attack. Most ich meds also nuke back a good number of your denitrifying bacteria. Daily water changes while you medicate give you the double benefit of improving water quality and removing the ich from the bottom of the tank to prevent them attaching to the fish.

In my opinion, your pleco has a heater burn on his head. That's usually a sign he's not happy with the other hiding spots available to him. The lack of appetite is going to be due to the water issues though, or parasites in his gills, if I had to guess. He can literally go for weeks if he's in good shape when he stops eating. Not eating is a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself.

He's not a Peckoltia btw. I'd guess Pterygoplichthys family.
