Help! I'm losing my cherries!

I actually noticed that some Algae Wafers have some copper sulfate in them.. Since that is a large part of their diet, thats what might be hurting them.

The amount in food should be so minimal that it should make no difference. Almost all foods have things that are bad for your fish or animals, but not in the amounts consumed in food. It's like drinking tap water. I'm sure drinking chlorine can't be good for humans, but the amount is so minimal.

i doubt it, the concentrations are soooo small in the foods. Some of the foods I feed my inverts has copper listed as an ingredient. You could try mixing it up more diet wise and see if that helps, they do like sinking wafers (like for catfish, mine go crazy for hikari brand) alot, veggies (specifically cukes), flake (which I think you said you feed) and in my 36g they even go after the tubifex and blood worsm I drop in there occasionally.

This is very puzzling. I remember people have had trouble having shrimp die offs from the copper in their water pipes. It might be worth investing in a copper testing kit or if you know you have copper pipes.....

I use the Hikari wafers and read the list carefully. It doesn't mention copper so if it is in there it's in minute amounts. And I don't think that we have copper pipes. I'll get a kit just to be sure.

I tired feeding cucumber and they didn't touch it. Gonna try some green beans next time.

Did you nuke the cuke for 15-20 seconds before feeding it to them? (Let it cool first! You don't want them burning their little shrimpie tongues)

Oh my... I have no idea what could be wrong. It sounds like you're doing everything right and cherries have been very resilient for me (no losses). Hikari wafers are fine, I also feed veggies, Omega one, and Aquarian shrimp pellets with no ill effects so I don't think your trouble is relative too what you are feeding.

Is it possible that there was a contaminant introduced recently? Aerosol, etc.?

Yeah, the shrimp should be the first affected by anything. I'm sorry, I'm trully at a loss and grasping...

Water quality is good, temp is good, you change water often, no ferts or contaminants... there as to be an answer somewhere... Grrr...

LOL. I'm down to the 2 of the ones I got from you (well...the ones that my tetras didn't get to). :( I'll have to get more soon. I do have some coming from Magamer, too. Want to get some from a few different people to widen the bloodline (if that makes any sense).
