i honestly dont think they should be legal until they are off the endangered species list -or- people are able to comercially breed them, but thats just my 0.02
they have been bred enough by concerned breeders to be legalized IMO.

the breed them?
i thought they were illegal everywhere...
i'm pretty sure you can keep them with a special permit, not positive on that. but I don't think they are avalible to the general public. and yeah, they've been breeding them for 15 years in captivity. read the webpage.

Asian aros in the wild are endangered, still no conclusive studies done on their wild population. Until thats done and it shows their numbers are back up they won't be taken off the endangered species list.

That said, they are mass produced in farms all over South East Asia. They are readily available to regular hobbyists in countries such as Canada and the UK, for a price though $$$.

it's not to take them off the endangered species list, it's just to make them legal to keep in the USA.

They first need to come off of the endangered species list before the US will allow them to be kept. It all has to do with CITES and the agrement the US government has made with them. If you do not know what CITES is here is the website. http://www.cites.org/

You could have a million signatures on the petition and it will mean nothing until the study of their natural habitat is done. On a side note did you look at some of the signatures and comments on that petition. The one person said it doesn't matter he'll buy them illegally and release them into the wild. If you want a petition to be taken seriously thats not the way to do it.

well I guess you're right.... and I do know what CITES is. also, is it legal to keep them with a license,or is it totally illegal? they could make them legal to keep with a license.

If the Asian Aro is legalized in the US, I will eat a handful of Omega One pellets, and post a vid.
