Please test the water for ammonia. Without knowing these numbers, there is no way to tell if a water change is needed or not. The old carbon, running for 10 days would not being in enough beneficial bacteria to help out, and whatever wastes were in the old tank were imported as well. Small--no more than 20%--daily water changes may help, but this is mostly to deal with the suspected ammonia levels than the cloudiness. Tearing the tank apart will only further disturb what bacteria are already there, making the problem worse.
