well.....you could try to breed expensive fish but that probrobly wouldnt work with the amount of time you have. plus youd most likely have to spend money first. you could barter fish. buy them and then sell them for more than what you paid for them.

Get a job at a local Mickey D's all that works at my local store on the wekends and at nights are kids your age.
have you thought of working as a busboy in a reception hall or a restaurant?
hours are usually flexible and don't interfere with school, and the money can be pretty good.
(I would have suggested offering snow removal, but you're one of the lucky ones who doesn't have to deal with it!)

SoCali hmmm ask around to some of the local surfers see if they need someone to clean up their boards waxing them and such.
16 years old... I started working for Target when I was 16. (and I'm in SoCal too) There are rules/regulations as to when you can and cannot work, but you are legally allowed to work 4 hours on a school night, 8 hours on a saturday/sunday, and up to 28 hours per week while in school.

Here is an idea.
Go to a company with a lot of employees. (What companies do for the holidays is give their employees gifts for their Holiday parties.) You approach the head guy with a gift mug that you previously put together (go to the dollar store buy a funky coffee mug fill it with a package of flavored hot chocolate or coffee, some chocolates, maybe a lotto scratch and win ticket, (you can come up with other things too), oh a piece of biscotti that you make at home (they are really inexpensive to make) then wrap the coffee mug up with Holiday clear wrap and a ribbon. )
Then show the big wig guy your product. You can mark it up almost 100%.
He/She will love this idea because now they do not have to send out one of their own employees to hunt down gifts!!!
it will not take up too much time to get them all together and you can do it at home. Just make sure that the dollar store can order in more mugs if you get a huge order!!!

make a steel drum out of a large coffee can, and play christmas songs in a touristy area. i did that and made 42 bucks in one night!
I was thinking along the same sort of lines.... a red suit, a pillow, some sleigh bells and a bucket for the coins??? LOL!
