for my upcoming 20 gal, i want a solitary fish, nice colors, peaceful, under 3.5 in. maybe some kinda rainbow fish?
help me choose fish!

Just want to clarify..you only want one single fish, or one type of fish? I just got a couple of Bosemani Rainbow fish and they are nicely colored. I don't know if just one would be of sufficient visual interest.
ithe 20 gal will have 3 platies, a sword and a guppy and 3 glolights, i want just 1 fish of that description.
I'd round out the school of glolites to a better number to make them more comfortable 5 would be a nice start. Then, I'd call it stocked.fishyman45 said:

3 commons Plecos would be a horrible choice for a 20G. They can get very large and are constant waste produces. Not even 1 in that tank would be a good choice.
20G might be a little small for rainbow fish since they like to school and can get somewhat large at 3” for that size tank.
If you are looking for a single fish, what do you think about a Betta?

mmmmm, all good and interesting choices, but would a marbled hatchet fish or silver dollar work? perhaps a discus, but arent they expensive and hard to care for?
