Help me Decide...Fish for a Planted Tank

I would go with smaller fish: thread fins, celebes &/or cardinals with a bunch of kuhlis 6-8 +/or corys. I'd skip the silver tips, IME aggressive little pretty fish

Thank you all for the advice, I'll let you know what ends up going in the tank when it's all put together. I'm STILL waiting for the supplies to show up! I really wish we had some better stocked LFS around here...

10 cardinal tetra
10 rummynose tetra
3 oto catfish
10 crystal red shrimp

I have a Heavily planted 150g with that combination w/ a 100 of each tetra and lots of shrimp and a small group of balas. The tetras shoal beautifully and don't bother plants

I have never kept these:
threadfin rainbow
Celebes rainbow
Congo tetra
cardinal tetra
emperor tetra
royal farlowella - single

The cardinals are passive. Not real tight schooling, but pretty enough. Adds a lot of color in contrast to all the green. I haven't kept any of the others on your list.

Tetras and rams would go together very well, I have long skirt tetras and I'm going to get a ram in my 5.5 medium planted tank. (I have 5 snails and 9 ghost shrimp that keep that tank perfectly clean)

I'm not having much luck finding the fish I had in mind at our chain pet stores. They get new shipments in on Friday so I will try to get there in time for a better selection.
I only have one male congo tetra so far, he's shoaling with a trio of brilliant rasboras for now until I can find him some more of his own kind.
I have yet to find any emperor tetras anywhere locally. I may check out the one LFS that is local, I'm not a fan of the shop but if they happen to have some of the fish I'm looking for I suppose I'll deal with them.

At Petsmart today they had Madagascan Rainbows in a tank and they have them listed as only growing up to 2 1/2", the Madagascan Rainbows I once had in my 55g grew up to 6" or more and they were much more colorful than the primarily yellow ones offered at Petsmart. Is there a different, smaller variety now, perhaps? Or just wrong info on their label? Does anyone know?

Stocking in the tank so far:
2 roseline sharks aka: Denisonii barbs
3 brilliant rasboras
1 male congo tetra
2 veiltail cherry barbs (male & female)
5 regular cherry barbs
6 natural, old-fashioned glowlight tetras (those new dayglo colored glofish are just freaky looking to me!)
2 angelicus loaches
1 clown pleco
1 albino butterfly bristlenose pleco (female)
1 dwarf frog
1 blue mystery snail
1 gold mystery snail
20 ghost shrimp

I am running an Emperor 400 (2 bio-wheels) with Bio-zorb bag in the back and during the day I run a HOT Magnum with micron filter, the fish love the water flow from it and it keeps the water crystal clear. I have yet to register any ammonia, nitrites or nitrates. Water did cloud with a bacterial bloom after adding instant aquarium substrates, but it cleared yesterday.
Either the glowlights or the cherry barbs will most likely be moved to a 10gL that is currently running empty and waiting for fish.
