Help me design my new tank

I'm liking that overflow a LOT! I, too, am really looking forward to seeing your tank. Post lots of pictures when it comes!

I can't wait to get it either. :) Here is my final sketch of the tank with 3 views. There will be a black plastic screen mesh siliconed against the back of the groove so no fish get sucked in.

So here is the "specs" of it.

30" wide, 22" deep, 24" tall. 68 US Gallons.

22" Wide x 1" coast to coast overflow, 4" wide x 6" deep overflow box with dual 1" drains siliconed on back of tank. Dual 3/4" returns locates 3" down on the sides of the overflow. Each return will be split with loc-line arms, with a SQWD attached for wavemaking.

Closed loop setup is a center 1" drain in the middle of the tank and 2 1" returns 7" from the bottom. I am thinking of making a "foating reef" setup with PVC, 2 PVC squares drilled for either spray bar or loc-line fittings coming upwards. I was watching my LFS make a floating reef in their 400G display tank and it seems like a really cool idea. I will have a 6" sandbed in the tank, 7" from the bottom the dual closed loop returns would be hard plumbed with the floating PVC squares with which you build the rocks on. There are supports in each corner going down to the glass to support it, but sand will hide the supports and rocks can hide the PVC. Hope that makes since.

Here is a picture with the 6" sand level and the squares are 1" PVC pipe. You can drill small holes all around it to make a spray bar type effect up the rocks you place on top, or drill then to install loc-line fittings, whatever you want for closed loop flow.

Is Google sketch what you're using for these designs? They're pretty nice :)

Ya, I am just using Google Sketchup, the free version to make my drawings. I do have many years of AutoCad/SolidWorks experience though so it comes easy to me.

Pics Reefscape.. maybe it was a Flickr problem because I can see them now. I have had a few "outtages" in the last few days with Flickr so it may have been down the second you viewed the thread, just try refreshing.
