So the guy I bought the 135 gallon tank from is getting it all ready for me...While I'm waiting, I bought some filters for it, and some other little stuff I need...it comes with glass tops, but I hate glass tops, and would like to find a full hood for it...however, I'm not sure what size it would be....The footprint of the tank is 72x18, same as a 125 gallon tank....If anyone has a 125 or 135, is there one cross brace or two? What hood dimensions would I need?

Thanks for the help!

I have two 150s that are the same footprint, with no center braces. I think the newer ones have 2 center braces, so you can use 24" glass tops and lights (x3). As far as wood canopies go, I usually just build my own. Far cheaper.

2 cross brace if its stander size 72x18x20 , so U will need 3 hoods
or one big one . I have glass tops ..... With the lights fixtures on U rely do not focus on the glass tops you tend to notes the lighting sitting on them .

So would I need hoods that are 24x18, or since there is the space of the cross braces, would they be 20x18?

Either way, do they even make such a hood?

I never saw one 18" deep most plastic tops I think are only 12" , Which you
can still use . From the front U will not see the gap in back , To keep
your fish in fill the other 6" with a peace of glass . I had the 12" hoods on my
90gal and it looked fine .

Its like I tell my wife. I don't have home made hoods and stands, I have custom designed hoods and stands that fit our house and our tastes. On my 6 ft long tank, I put a glass top with hinges and all. The handle grip to open the glass top is a long piece of wood that I made up with my router and then stuck to the glass top with aquarium silicone. You can buy the hinge material fior glass tops at places like big als. Then I built my custom, not home made, light strip that matches the stain on the woodwork in the room. It holds lights that are much cheeper to buy than any hood or light strip would be and it gives me about 1.2 WPG which is enough for low light plants.
