Help Please! Can you identify these fish?

Hello,

I was visiting a friend's today, and in his African showcase tank, he had a few fish I was unfamiliar with. In particular, he had these unusually colored Peacock looking fish. I asked about them, and he said they were "long-finned" Peacocks. He took me over to the wholesaler/reseller he got them from, and there were 7 left. I bought them all. However, what the heck are they?

The other fish are somewhat indifferent to them except for the other Peacocks. I'm not sure what kind the other Peacocks are, but the dominant Peacock male went absolutely crazy chasing them around, shaking, and puffing up. I was told he was a red/orange Peacock, but I'm leaning more towards a Sunshine? His colors are not vivid yet.

Well unfortunetaly your first fish are a hybrid man-made strain. They are called "Strawberry peacocks" and beacuase they are manmade they have no scientific name. They are kinda ugly if you ask me, only because they are so unnatural! They do have neat coloration though.

Your second fish, I'm assuming you mean the one with yellow and blue tints, looks like an Aulonocara baenschi "Benga", "Nkhomo", but may not be a pure one. Its hard to tell by the pic. ;) http://www.malawimayhem.com/profile_show.php?id=1
