I was told in a different thread that in order for others to properly identify the fish I was sold, I need to focus on a single fish. I have uploaded a few pix below and would appreciate help in identifying what fish they are exactly.

I believe one is a Redcap Oranda but the rest I can't figure out.

Thanks!

hes going to say something and you are gonna tell him "Goldfish should be kept in at least 60 gallon" when this person never once asked a question about tank size. :OT:. This happens all too often at AC. Dont tell people how to keep fish unless they ask. PM if you have a personal question like that so it doesn't lead to attacking by 27 different people all saying the same thing.

I'm just curious, how big is your tank? Thanks.

Valid question. I am a 1 week newbie and the tank is 30G and the fish store gave my wife 10 fish - all as part of the present I received. I am planning on returning a number of common GF and Koi and replacing them with others.

I am learning something new every day as I read this forum. I just ordered two books to help out:

The Simple Guide to Fresh Water Aquariums
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Freshwater Aquariums

Plenty. I think I have them all down other than pix 5-7. These are not common GF. If you look closely they have small whiskers hanging down from their mouths and they move quite quickly compared to all the other GF and Kois in the tank.

Any other guesses I should try?

Could they be Koi? They move quite quickly.

5-7 are definitely carp. The barbels, the more slender body shape and on 5 and 7, the reflective scales along the top of it's body indicate so. These fish are better suited outside in a pond, and they will undoubtedly outgrow your tank. But, if you can put up with them uprooting plants and digging around in the dirt, there's no reason why they can't stay where they are for now, althought they feed more vociferously than the fancy ones, so they may just be getting a lions share of the food
