help me, please!

A castle or something would be fine in a pinch, but yeah its not "realistic" in the sense that they arent often found underwater. I personally dont like them, but I dont think the fish would be scared of it. Plants are a fine choice, there are some very easy to grow ones (anacharis and hornwort come to mind); driftwood and rock structures are nice too.
Do you have a filter for this tank, btw?

Dont buy a castle as a Hiding spot. Its not "realistic" But driftwood or something that looks realistic and the fish arent afraid to go near.
she can if she wants. its her tank and if she thinks its cool she has every right to buy what decor she wants.
my brothers tank has a barrel ornament and a cave made of rock. the fish love the barrel and swim in it ofthen, but they almost never go near the cave.

absolutely buy what you want. I have a fake "castle" in my tank that I can't get rid of because my female upside-down catfish just loves it! I think it would break her heart if I had to "evict" her :)

once it grows light coat of algea and some biological bacteria, its going to look like its real :)
oh, it's already got all that stuff. i've had it for over three years now and that catfish is in love with it. It had so much algae that it looked like underwater ruins. :) I had to bleach it to kill the black hair algae, nasty.

hawaiian_chica, sorry to steal your thread. please feel free to ask any other questions to help your new guppies.

do you have a filter? do you have a heater? you should go right down to your library and check out a book on aquariums. never just do something. always research! :)
