My new marbled pim is a bit sick I think. First off I cannot get him to eat ANYTHING. He got beatup by my sev and acara and he isnt doing so hot. I am currently treating the tank with melafix and doing a 10% or so water change everyday. I am mostly worried about his gills and whiskers. His whiskers got torn up by the other fish and I think his gills did too. I am not positive if the gills are from getting beaten up though. PLEASE HELP ME!!! I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO LOSE THIS FISH!!!!!!!

i would quarantine him and treat him with antibiotics if you are really worried. that metaflex is just 1% melaleuca (i cant rememeber exactly), but no real antibiotic. If he is healthy he could heal on his own, but putting in antibiotics will help stop any bacterial infection. QT hiom will stop any aggression he is getting from the other fish and help with treating him with the antibiotics.

He is now in the tank by himslef. So you think he is going to heal fine? I think he finally ate some bloodworms. BTW I now have a 7-8" gold sev and 5" port acara up for sale :)

I had an injured plec that recieved a burn from a heater. I put him in a q tank and just did water changes, and kept the water very clean, and fed him, and he healed fine. The less "additives" put in the water the better. If there is no infection, indiscriminate use of antibiotics can kill off your beneficial bacterial colonies, and leave your fish suceptible to fungus. Keep a close eye on him and only use antibiotocs if the wounds are appearing worse.
If he's not eating for you, you might try smearing some fresh garlic on some food. I've had success getting pick eaters to eat by taking a slice of zucchini and cutting small slits in it and rubbing garlic into it.
