Well we're FINALLY setting up our 29gal. Today we went to town to go look at the fish and well my mom fell in love with the empress cichlids. And yes I know they get way to big for a 29gal but she doesn't seem to understand this. I need some info on them. Are they slow growers? And if so if we get a couple and they are small will they be fine in the 29gal until we upgrade. Which will probably happen sometimes in the near future. If we find something cheap on craigslist thats around the size of a 55 or 75gal we should be getting it. Another fish I like is the Leopard Ctenopoma. Would that be fine in the 29gal? Ok well anyways. Give me some ideas people!

Leopard Ctenopoma are actually nocturnal and at their maximum size of about 6" need a tank atleast 55gal.

And with the Empress, you'll need to plan for 125gal or bigger, they get to 10".

Ya I figured the empresses would need a way bigger tank. Ok so the Ctenopoma is a no too. Dang. Ok well. I want to have cichlids of some sort. If yall would put cichlids in the tank, I doubt very many can go in it, which would yall put and how many?

For that size, a pair of German or Bolivian Rams, or a pair of Apistos.
