Hey everyone,
I bought a 16.5 Gallon tank from Big Al's last night. I currently have a 25 G and a 10 G (20x10x12)..
I am living in a 2 bedroom apt and dont have much space so I have to sell my 10G after I establish my new 16.5 Gallon tank whoich is 20x10x19H

Since the length and width dimensions are the same for both tanks, I am using the same canopy and accessories that I used in my 10. After I establish my 16.5 Gallon, I can sell my 10 gallon without canopy on EBay! (with a package -- Heater and filter-- ofcourse :) )

Now that all the secondary info is stated, I can ask my question.
I am putting my 10 G fish into my 16G very soon (maybe even tonight) and I want to know if there is room for more fish.

Here's what I have:
4 Neon Tetras (gonna by 2-3 more soon) So 6-7 Neons
3 Platies (2 female, 1 male)

I will buy 2 ottos when my tank starts getting aglae.

I know that 6 Neons and 3 Platies is not overstocked in a 16.5 gallon high tank, but I wana know how UNDERSTOCKED it is.
What other fish can/should I get for my upgraded tank?
I am open to ALL suggestions :thm:

Maybe some otos, white clouds, kuhli loaches, and similar sized fish. About exact stocking limits, I'm not completely fluent on that just yet, but I'm sure you'll get a response soon. Good luck~Angela

the problem is that the tank has the same footprint, so while you gain swimming room, you don't really pick up any additional surface area, and running it with the same filter means you'll want to keep to about the same bio-load. Filling out the neons, and EITHER some bottom feeders OR a small centerpiece like the dwarf gouramie would be the most I would add.

Perhaps get another species of Tetra, that way you have some different colors.

I have some Bloodfin Tetras that are a blast to watch when they go "surfing" on the filter outflow!

Blackskirt may be another option. Mine seem to like the top of the tank so different levels are good too!

You can't add a lot more fish than you've got.

I would add some more neons and the ottos and see how that goes.

Alright, I might get some guppies, because I have 2 male guppies in my 25 G, so I will just trade in a male and get 2 females.
Does this sound ok?
6 Neons
3 Platies (2 F, 1 M)
3 Guppies (2 F, 1 M)
2 Otos

Remember its a 16.5 gallon tank. I just finished upgrading today btw, and the PH is perfect, and I will check out the rest of the stuff 2morrow, but it was basically like a water change, because I just took everything from my 10 (including water) and topped it off with the remaining water needed.
