Hi all,

I used to have a 60 gallon salt water which I sold because it was too expensive and i wanted to someday start completely over with all live rock and wet/dry filtration. I don't know if wet/dry is still considered the best filtration, but back in 1998 it was the hot thing. Right now I am the proud owner of an almost cycled 5 gallon freshwater with a Betta and two frogs. With my renewed interest in aquaria, my hubbie and i are planning a saltwater tank built into the wall of our house. We have about a year to think about it. We're thinking about 100 gallons, with live rock and possible live sand.

Question, what would you do with this set up as far as filtration, amount of live sand and rock, inhabitants, etc?
Thanks,
mari

Doing Reef or FOWL?

for 100 gallons id go with at minimum of 120lbs of LR. To keep costs down you can used 50/50 60 pounds of base dead lace rock and 60 pounds of Live rock..For sand if your Gonna do a DSB gonna need alot, dont know what your tank demensions are so cant say exactly how many lbs of sand you'll need. And as far as inhabitants go it depends what type of system your going for Reef or fish only.

Do you plan on using a sump/refugium on this tank?
