Sorry about the strange title was hoping to attract some attention! Anyway I have around a 50 gallon tank just over with 2 black moors 1 weather loach and my pride and joy Brains (red cap), and was looking to get some fish that are not in the gold fish family that can take the coldwater and wont attack my fancys. also i have a tank with mainly artificial plants and was hoping to replace them with the real thing could anyone tell me the best to get?

You could get like two more weather loaches. You could also get one more fancy goldfish. You shouldn't put real plants because goldfish love to eat plants. You should stick with plastic plants. :dive2:

What about white cloud minnows do they do well well with fancy goldfish?

I would stick with fake plants. My last tank had a real plant in it and it grew to almost fill up the whole tank. So I had to trash it. Keep the fake they are much easier to handle.

The biggest problem is diet. White Clouds might survive as they are fast but require a diet rich in protein. Goldies need a diet with considerably less protein, hence they have their own food.

I would agree with getting a couple more weather loaches. Loaches always do best in groups.

thanks for the advice everyone i will get a couple more loaches i think they are great not the best looking fish but very enjoyable to watch :thm:

don't forget khuli loaches. i've read that fancy goldfish and moors don't mix so great because the moors are easily out-competed for food.

my black moors are very greedy and pretty fast but they are only young unless they get slower with age im not sure
