Ok, I just got a single mushroom and rubberbanded it to a rock and plopped it right in.
!!!!!!!!!!! I Forgot to acclimate. !!!!!!!!

I did notice the temp in the bag was higher than the tank and the coral has a lttle slime coming off. It is retracted around the rubberband. Placed low and in an area of moderate flow.

Please help! Will it live? I cannot forgive myself...I was too tied up in mounting it!!!!!

Thanks

Update: I think I mounted it upside down. It is extending its green surfaces around the band, and I noticed substrate on the back of it facing up. So, I may flip it in a short while.

Take the mushroom out, remove the elastic. Get some mesh material (such as the stuff used to make wedding veils) and wrap it around the piece of LR the mushroom is on, but leave just enough slack for circulation. You don't want to pinch off circulation within the mushroom itself or it will just melt away.

If you don't have a hostpital tank, move the mushroom to the lowest flow area of the tank and keep water parameters good. Light should be decent but not overpowering.

Just wait it out.

Mushrooms are incredibly hardy and have even survived my clumsy attempts at propogation that resembled the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. In fact, one method is to simply cut a mushroom into bits and spread them over LR.

I as well have done some pretty mean thins to musrooms to make more of them. I also use the same method Crown Royal uses, some times if the pieces are small I use a small cup (yogurt cup works good) with big chunks of crushed coral, and secure the bridal veil to the top of the cup. Bottom line I wouldn't worry about it.

alright, thanks. It looks like it is opening! kinda.

Yeah, Its doing good. The sh*oom jsut might pull through. It is showing signs of being alive, like the nocturnal contracting and the daytime expansion and the contractions when it is disturbed

Thank you all for helping my nerves! :shark:
