HELP! my cory is SICK!

Hi,

Your tank is a little os, but I don't think thats the reason he died.

When did you last clean the water?

The main problem I see is you only have one Cory! Cories need to be kept in groups. Sometimes Cories can die of lonelyness.

Cory Lover

indeed. cories should be kept in groups. I recently lost one of my albinos, so i am down to 3. I think i will buy a couple more at least to make them more happy.

ok...
i clean my water every week
and i used to have 2, then one died (this one)

I've lost cories with the same symptoms as yours. In my case it seemed due to "new tank syndrome" meaning I had too many fish for my tank not because my tank is too small, but too new and the cycle was too fragile and easily disrupted with new additions.

How long has your tank been up and what are the nitrate, nitrite, and ammonia readings and the pH?

I have been doing 20%-50% water changes PER DAY quite often to adjust for ammonia and nitrite spikes. I have had perfect readings for days at a time, but this has been too easy to knock out of wack. Just once from cleaning gunk out of the impeller chamber of my filter--started me on a mini-cycle that claimed one of my cories.

um..its cycled, and nitrite is 0 and ammonia is 0
i dont have the other test kits yet:o

In post #7 you say you have 0 nitrAtes--if this is so, the tank isn't cycled yet.
Also, it's kind of offensive to read "lol. he's dead." Even a poor little cory deserves more than a laugh over his demise.:)

i got mixed up with nitrAtes and nitrItes, i dont have a nitrAte test kit;)
and the cory cant tell if im "lol'ing" hehe
