Without pictures and especially without any information at all, It's hard to help. I would surmise that one possibility is he got stressed bad enough to allow a bacteria or fungal infection. Crappies go deep water this time of year because they don't handle the heat well. If you had him in an outdoor pond, the shallow water may have heated up too much for him and stressed him out. It would be nice to have pictures of the fish, and it would be really nice to know Tank parrameters, stocking levels and temperature of water.

Good reply..!
Crappie/Speckled Perch need a lot of water. They are not suited to an aquarium environment. Even an outdoor pond must be very large to keep them healthy.
36 gallon patio pond. I keep part of the pond covered and added Algae Blocker to the pond.
He's was in there since May and only now-when I left for a week- did I find him sick. Of course for a long time the Algae Blocker kept the water a darkish blue color.
His eyes are whiteish and he has some white tufts on his nose.
The water is green now with algae and the temperature has fluctuated this summer from very cool to warm, but not a whole lot.
I agree with others who have replied. The pond is likely too warm for your little guy right now and he has stressed allowing a bacterial infection to grow. Try some Aquarisol, see what you can do to lower the temp (slowly tho - don't need another shock) and if there is no other form of aeration - get a small fountain head in there or create a waterfall of some kind. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
