Yup, was cleaning his cage, put him in the ball thing, went to go get him -- ball was open and hamster was gone!
I did the whole bucket with food in the bottom and steps leading up to the rim. If anyone else has any other suggestions please tell me, my daughter would be so upset if something happened to Mickey. I'm thinking I won't find him today being that they sleep all day, I'm betting he found a warm place to hide out in.
Has this happened to anyone else? Also if anyone can suggest an irresistible hamster treat that I can bait my trap with... I'm using an apple....

I used to have a dresser in my basement. My hampster always found his way into a drawer. I would put some treat in a couple shoe boxes with some fluffy bedding.

hehehe.... don't fret boo, it happens to the best of us. When it happened to me, with 3 cats in the house even and a brand new little of babies.... Mama was found on the basement steps.

I believe Blue has a story too :)

well, aparently from the massive amounts of articles on what to do about an escaped hamster, they seem to be quite the little Houdinis. I just have visions of me going to bed and him, like, jumpin' outta my pillow case and biting my nose or something lol.....

Could be worse, He could climb up the curtin next to the toilet!!!

no that can't happen, I DO wish I had a window in my bathroom though.. ;) haha

But you get the idea, I could come up with a thousand of these!!! Find him in the undie drawer???

LOL! No, no hamsters in the panties.... Good suggestion though, I mean who wouldn't want to be in a panty drawer?

GOOD QUESTION!!!!!

I have lost countless hamsters. The first thing I would do is stuff towels underneath all the doors. Stuff really tightly though, because even if there's a little space, they'll find it and get out. Search the room one by one - look under the furniture & in the closets. I repeatedly kept finding my hamster in one closet in particular - he would climb up the clothes and sit on top. They really get into things. While you search, be very, very quiet and listen. You will most likely be able to hear it doing stuff. That can give you an indication as to where it's hiding. Keep all the doors stuffed until you find him so that he's not moving all over the house. I used to just go to each room and do nothing but listen. I could usually find them that way.

Good luck and let me know how it goes.
