Bioload is the number of live creatures creating waste.
Fish eat, take in like 15% of the nutrients in the food and poop the rest.
Normally with a high bioload (Number of fish and their size), a skimmer will go like crazy right after feeding time.
What type of food do you feed?
Did you try to cut down the air flow going into the pump to the skimmer? That should work. The water level in the skimmer could not be constant too. How often and how much do you fill with makeup water? I'm assuming the makeup water is coming from a RO unit?
