HELP!!!!!my red devils\severums wont feed!!

If you've checked for any illness and didn't find any, they may be a little stressed right now. Give them a couple of days without feeding and then introduce a small amount of food and see if they will eat. Also, how is your water? Have you checked the levels?

sorry i dint have time to clarify why i flushed .well the resoni flushed him was that when i got home at 3 the fish was swimming vetically beside the heater, had cloudy eyes, had crud al overr him and his fins were falling apart. what did you expect me to do?the store owner would haave flushed him too plus wouldnt it have been less humane to let him die painfully?he would have died anyyways. i checked all my levels and everything is peachy .in answer to tono ill try to borrow a digital camera to show you guys. sorry about the way i reacted yesterday i had the cruddiest day ever. anyways dont kill the messenger i know the one i got left is a blood parrot cuz i had reserved him since he was a fry. i alredy know hybrids were not supposed to be fertile but hey i got an awesome fish that had lucky parents. ill try and take a pic soon. i lookes at juveniles of red devs and theyre not the same nieether do severums cuz i had one that i gave away to a guy with an empty 55g. . by the way would he be ok in a 20g for a little while? hes alone with a ramshorn snail

well i know its not exact but i trid to respect prportions and colous. i dont use paint much so forgive me if its a cruddy pic but if it makes you think of a fish you know do tell. sorry if the pic is small and cheap coclour but the upload limit is 63 kb. when i get a real pic ill post it

There are numerous relatively humane ways to euthanize a fish. Flushing, on the other hand, is both extremely painful and terrifying for the fish, and dumps whatever disease the fish had into your local water system where there may or may not be any immunity.

You say your water is peachy. What exactly did you test and what were the results?

what other ways are there to kill a dying fish?by the way my water parametersare neutral. ph 7 th under 15 ammonia and nitrites are down.

Placing in a container with sufficient water and then freezing is, to my mind, the most certain and humane. The fish is unconscious long before the dropping temperatures kill him. Another method, although less certain with larger fish, is to add carbonated water (i.e. C02) to the water in a container untill the fish loses consciousness and then suffocates. Other methods using sedatives, etc. are also recommended. Chopping off the head with a knife, or smashing with a hammer, are also feasible, although a bit messy (but from the perspective of the fish, relatively quick and painless, especially compared to flushing).

Regarding your ammonia and nitrites, you say that they are "down". Down from what? They should read zero if your tank is properly functioning. Please clarify.

Either way works, when you hit them on the head it is instant they don't feel a thing. Thats what I do when I go fishing anyways.

my ammonia and all were very low but since i just got im it might have a small amount but i just did a backwash so everything is fine. i bought some cichlid flakes and he aeting great like pig. hes starting to eat the hikari pellets. by the way is there a salt content to maintain? maybe i should make another thread for this one.

You should always keep your ammonia and nitrites at zero.
