Help! My tank wont clear up.

Have you checked to see what their return policy is on that item? It may include some sort of restocking fee and depending on whether you would have to pay for shipping or not you may be able to get some money back...

I just checked and they said that my invoice will have a return label on it. They said there is a 15% restocking fee but if I just get a credit then that will be waived. I dont think I will have a problem finding something else. I have another question... I have 2 lights on my tank that are T8 bulbs. It seems they are not enough light for it. Is there anything else I can get that wont kill my wallet? I love LED but hate the price. They are 24 inch 17W Colormax bulbs. They are both brand new from Petsmart.

I have two live plants now and one is doing great. It had light leaves and now has really dark green. They other one was having issues when bought it but it was cheap so I figured its worth a try and I dont think its going to make it. I would like more live plants and am either waiting for petsmart to have theirs go on sale or or onliine.

I just bought 2 T5 Dual Lamp fixtures from Petsmart for 79.99 each. It come with a 6700K 21 W bulb and a Colormax 21W bulb. So now I have 118 Watts. It looks really good but now I am battleing ICK!!!! I am slowly raising my temp to 85 and am using Aquari-sol.

Sorry to hear about the ich outbreak.

Seeing as the fixtures you got are Normal Output, using a 2 bulb T5NO fixture on a tank that is 24" tall is still pretty much low lighting. I'm going off of Hoppy's chart HERE.

The java fern and anubias should do fine, as would other low light plants like crypts, anacharis, java moss, vals, etc. Just don't expect to be able to grow a whole lot...which isn't always a bad thing. If this is your first planted tank then it is always a good idea, IMHO, to start small. Low demanding plants means less work but you still get the benefits of having live plants.

The anubias is actually starting to grow a new leaf. Its a baby leaf but its new! I hate having ick but its a fact of life... I think it was the african feather fin catfish that brought it in. I should of used a quartine tank :headshake2:. I saw the better lights but i just got out of the Army and dont have a lot of extra spending cash. I did not even have the money for these (discover card).
