Hi everyone...
So happy to find this forum...

I recently started a 10g tank of a few telescope goldfishes and 2 pleocostomuses... i have an aquaclear 20 filter... but my tank gets cloudy pretty fast... to the point that i basically have to do a water change every 4 days... vacum the gravel.... etc.. is that normal? ...

I understand that goldfishes pollute alot, but because i dont keep my tank near sunlight, and ive added some of that solution that's suppose to get rid of cloudy water.

I can't seem to understand why my fishes now are starting to get some white spots on them (cotton mouth/fin)... So I've added som ich guard? or that fungus clear (jungle brand)... but it doesnt seem to have helped my fishes... my PH level is at 7-7.5.

What am i doing wrong? :help:
Thanks guys.

Well first off the fish that you have are going to grow way to big for your tank. The two plecos will grow huge, I just gave back a 13" one back to my LFS because it was too big for my 60 gal. Do you know what your water paramaters are, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates? If you do not have a test kit most LFS will teat a water sample for free, I would say that they are probably off the wall. Ideal is 0 ppm ammonia, 0 ppm nitrites, >20 ppm nitrates. Once you have those numbers it will be easier to give you advice. But let me for warn you that people will tell you that the fish you have are not right for your tank, and that is ultimatly the issue you are having.

even if you got a bigger tank it still wouldn't work out, the goldfish like temperate or cool water 68-72, but the plecos need tropical temps around 78. both species are poop machines and messy eaters. you're better off trading them all in, getting a couple oto cats for algae control, and a handful of smaller fish. with a 20g filter and a good water change routine, you can overstock a little.

Also, don't bother with the stuff to uncloud the water, with the number and kind of fish you have, and especially without test kits to say for sure, you should probably be doing about 50% water changes a DAY!! And did you add 2 different kinds of meds? Or you just aren't sure which you used? I don't think the ich stuff will help with cotton fungus, but I know there are some meds. you can buy that claim to be all in one type of products.

i only put in the fungus clear medicine... it says it cures baterias and fungus such as cotton mouth... but it doesnt loook like it did anything... and the plecos that i have are small about 1 inch only... still babies...

do you think theres something growing in my tank thats causing the sickness to my fishes???

do you guys know what kind/brand of medicine is good for cotton mouths/fungus growth?

you really need to look into a bigger tank than a 10 gallon. 10 gallon isn't big enough for 1 of those goldies, let alone a few of them. The cycle will not stop because of the stock...

ya.. i went out and bought a much bigger than for those babies...
hopefully once i transfer them to their new home, they'll become healtier...

any hints on how to keep them healthier?

experts please help!

i got my 6 goldfishes a 30 g tank.

initially they look pretty happy with the new home, but lately i've notice some ich problem. i've use those ich removal medicine, but it doesnt seem to be going away. its been about 5-7 days now.

help please?

Oh oh. I hate to tell you this, but even TWO goldfish in a 30 gallon tank is pushing it.

I was just recommended that only ONE be put in a 30 gallon tank and I was considering upping to a 50 so my son could have 2.

Anyone have any GOOD goldfish links? There are a lot of goldfish sites, but most of them are spouting crap.
