water_wako, you might try disassembling, cleaning, then reassembling the unit. perhaps some plant funk got lodged on the impeller or something along those lines.

I have noticed my ac50 has been noisy for the last week, took it all apart and cleaned the impeller area and its much less noisy now. Im wondering myself, if left long with lets say... little pieces of java moss stuck in the impeller, would it get damged?
It should be fine, if the rubber bushing is worn just replace them. unless the magnet is out of round......
Call Tetra and tell them they will replace the impeller. Also, try removing the lid.
