hi everyone... i lost about 10 black tetra out of 40 in just two days... i really dont know who or what killed them... oh and 1 of my zebra danio died...

i think i really made a big mistake in putting together 50 small tiger barb,40 black tetra and 6 zebra danios in one 55 gallon planted tank...

i just want to know who and what killed them because some of my black tetra got no more tail and some are sucked in my HOT filter... can anyone give me some good advice ?

You put around a 100 fish in a 55 gallon tank? Have you checked the ammonia and nitrite levels?

At least it's easy to guess who ate the tetras' tails. At tip: it's not the danios.

How did it come to this? Is this from breeding?

How long has the tank been set up? How often do you do water changes and how much water do you change? How long have the fish been in there? Did you add them all at once? How many plants and what kind? How long have the plants been in there and how are they doing?

Sorry about the 3rd degree, but we need to know these things so we can try to figure out what has been going wrong.

My money is on the tiger barbs too! That sure does sound like a lot of fish in a 55..........

hi guys thanks for the help.. i think its because of aggression and overcrowded... ive removed some of my tiger barb and place it on my another 55 gallon tank... so far they are going well and active... btw, how many months would a tiger barb mature and start to breed ??? and how could i tell whos the male and female ???

I would put all the Tiger barbs in one 55gal and nothing else. You have as much fish as I do in my 100gal!!

To breed tiger barbs all you need is about 6 fishes in a very heavily planted tank (and fed well). They are group spawners.

Hoo-boy.
