I am working on setting up my 50 gallon and I want to put some easy plants in. I really want something that has a flowy grass look. I don't mind working my way up to the harder stuff but for now not sure that I can handle the whole CO2 at the moment. So if you have any suggestions I would love to hear them!

valisnerias look like giant grass. there are a bunch of species of them. there are also various species of sags

what kind of lighting will you be using?
I am not really sure I have just started reading about it and it looks like its on a Kelvin scale? So am I right in my understanding that for plants it needs to be 6500K or more? What would you suggest? I probably would find a plant I liked that was within my ability to care for it and then decide on lighting. What is the general rule for lighting when it comes to planted?

Needle Leaf Java Fern

I can suggest a couple that are low light. If you don't want to dose CO2 then try to stay under 2WPG(Watt Per Gallon) otherwise you'll run into algae problems. Most of these plants would do just fine under 2WPG too

Almost any type of moss especially Java moss
Java fern
Vals
Wisteria
Crypts
Wisteria
Cabomba
Hornwort
Dwarf Sags should grow under lower light just not as fast
Anacharis
Hope this helps!
