Another place to visit to get more imfo on guppies is www.ifga.org this is a great site. This is where you have a lot of pro guppy breeders most of them compete and have 60+ tanks filled with them, and they will give you lots of imfo. Probably more than needed. trust me on this one, you will not regret going there.
I bought three feeder (fourteen cent) guppies from petsmart last night, right before my 5 hour shift there, so they sat in a plastic baggie in my locker for around 5 hours, and floated in my tank for about 15 minutes. At some point in there, one of the guppies gave birth... in a plastic bag... I think in my locker. Three guppies survived, and are still alive in my 10 gallon tank. We'll see how long they last after my hatchet tetras and my platy get added to the tank. Does anybody know how many fry the guppies usually have?

This depends on the age of the fish and usually now way of telling how old she is. The older the fish, the more the fry but could be any where from 3-40 but from what I have seen with my own fish about 10.UWShorty85 said:
My older female guppies have anywhere from 20-40 fry at at time while the younger ones usually have around 10. I do not use a breeder net and a good percentage of the fry survive. I have lots of hiding places for them. I then take them out and put them in a smaller tank to grow up so I can see colors and sex to separate. I have come up with some beautiful colors by combining different colors.
