Help Please

Hi,

Somebody else on this site had trouble with that product too. It clouded her tank and I think killed some of her fish.

By the way, does your tank get a lot of sun on it?

Could that product have infected my fish and they are all just slowly dying? The last fish I lost was a bumblebee goby. I'd had it since I started my tank. This is so upsetting.
This might be a possibility. If that product had been sitting in a LFS for years, it might be contaminated by now.

It won't console you, but I have a somewhat similar problem at the moment. My water got also cloudy, and although my water parameters seem fine (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, <5 ppm nitrate), half of my cories just swelled until they exploded. Two otos just died a quiet death. The rest of the cories doesn't look good, either. Let's see whether the one with the most severe symptoms is still alive when I'll get home.

Changing the water often will definitely keep the bacteria down; at least in my case it stopped the instant dying. Some broad band antibiotics is probably the only way to go, if you don't know the reason for the deaths. I'm just hesitating as it will destroy the biofilter. If you have a small quarantine tank, you might try your luck there, but the fish might not be happy with the water there. I wish you luck.

I think the chemical is probably just not good for the fish. The only chemicals I ever put in my tank are water conditioner and ferts, because I have heard so many horror stories about miracle chemicals that are supposed to kill algae or clear the water that ended up killing everything in the tank. Sorry for your loss, I hope you can figure out what went wrong.

ah, yes... very true.. my friend had a jungle fizz tab thing that keeps pH at 7.0 for 2 weeks. too good to be true.

10 mins after use, everything died. EVERYTHING

I am thinking maybe we should all get our heads together and compile a list of aquarium products which do more harm than good and tempt people into buying them with false promises.

It would be a nice thing to do...kind of like the list of non-aquatic plants that is somewhere either on this site or somewhere else.

I think maybe a list of certain practices as well - from the one inch per gallon rule to the myth of having to keep your tank at a pH of 7 at all times.

Maybe someone should start a thread....and hopefully with enough worthwhile contributions it will become something like a sticky for the newbies (and the more experienced...)

I'm hoping the rest of my fish will be ok. No dead fish this morning. None of my catfish or loaches seem to have been effected. So far it seems to have harmed mostly tetras, my pencilfish and my betta.

Kordon told me to send the bottle back to them for testing and they would replace it. First of all, I don't want to pay the darn shipping, and second of all, I would NEVER use that product again. I got it from Big Als online. I should probably notify them too.
