help quickly in a hurry... qt need a substrate

if i am starting a new tank should i keep it in use for a while as i will be adding fish on a weekly bases till the stock is complete.

If you use a cannister filter, you keep the media of this filter somewhere safe in the display tank, this keeps the bacteria alive, and then no need to cycle when you come to have a need to quickly setup the QT...

I'd not add a new fish to the QT every week. You'll need longer than a weekto qt a fish and if you introduce a new one during that time you'll really want to start at 0 again with the first one.

ok after quarentining a few fish at time i will immediately add new fish.
also is it necessary to have a qt when you have no corals or inverts in your tank to start.

how many fish can i quarentine at once in my 10g. they will all be juvis.

I encourage you to approach it a different way. Try to get your most passive fish first. Then work your way up to the more territorial. Even if you could fit say 1 fire goby with 2 dottybacks in the 10g qt I'd sure not do it as the poor firefish will be harrassed by the two dottybacks.

ok so research the compatibikty before they are quarentined together.
