Help! Red Rainbowfish Not Eating!

Params are the same still: pH = 7.9, NH3 = 0, NO2 = 0, NO3 = ~8.

I mentioned before that I put one of the bows down -- did that by putting in the freezer. Today I took him out and noticed he is also missing 1 eye!

If it's just an aggression situation, I'm ok with that. Ideally I wanted some "target" fish that could live with the cichlids, but understood that long term they might get chomped. The bows I have are big, but pretty slow, so maybe they weren't the best choice and will get chomped sooner rather than later.

Here are some more pics of the reds. They're silvery in the middle, and rust-reddish on the top and bottom. The LFS guy said that they just need some time to "color up". Do you all think they look ok?

Are there any other possible explanations for the deaths?
Any suggestions about what steps I should take?
If the bows do get chomped, should I try another CA cichlid instead?

Thanks!

Hmm, I see your point. I can move the 5 remaining bows to my 55g which contains: 3" Severum (also rescued from the 75g), ABK, Senegal Bichir, African Leaf Fish, 9 Congo Tetras, 3 Upside-Down Catfish.

Probably would need to watch the params, but if the Congos and Bows get along it could work out well...

Actually....it occurred to me that the little boesemani I have might end up becoming a snack for my bichir, so I moved him into my 20g long with Dwarf Gourami, 7 Zebra Danios, and 6 Julii Cories.

The DG isn't bothering him yet -- glad about that -- but I think he's definitely ailing. One of the danios nibbled on his tail a bit and he barely moved. Now he's just kind of hanging in place.

What's strange is that when I went back to the 75g the 4 red were being more active..?? I think I'll wait a bit on moving them to see if they show any signs of standing up the fm...

Please jump in and let me know if any of you have any alternate suggestions / ideas.

Thanks!

Found one of the 4 reds dead -- eyes eaten again -- so we're done with that. As suggested, I moved the remaining 3 to my 55g. They're schooling with my Congo tetras and look *much* happier now.
