Hello, I've noticed my Gold Gourami having these spots. Attitude and behavior is normal, eating and breathing fine.I havnt treated yet because I've been trying to research what it could be but havnt had any luck. I hope I could get some help here. Any input would be great thanks. No one else seems to have any signs of this or any sickness in the tank.

Interesting, it almost looks like hole in the head, also called head and lateral line erosion (HLLE), but I've never seen it start on the gill plate before.

What are your water parameters (ammonia, nitrite and nitrate)? Preferably from a liquid kit, but a dip test will give us an idea. How often do you do water changes and how much do you change? What is the temp of the tank? What size is it and what are the tank mates?

These answers will give us some insights into what might be wrong.

Maybe a fight?

My parameters are all in check and I do a 25% water change every 2 weeks. I have 75 Gallon planted tank. Tankmates are Tiger Barbs, Cherry Barbs, Roseline Sharks, a Blue Ram, Golden Zebra loaches and Cory cats and a small opaline which hangs with him. There's really no bullying in the tank each group stays with themselves. Never seen anything fights or chasing much other than the barbs or rose lines playing around.

Yes, also usually if there is a fight there would be torn fins too.
You may need to "Swab" those area with an antibiotic.

"In check" doesn't really give the detail I was asking for. What are the levels exactly? My good water may be different than your good water.

None of those fish would cause any sort of issues like this without tearing the fins as well. So, I'm starting to think HLLE

Also, If you are looking for good medicines, I always recommend Methylene blue.
