Help, rust coloured water...

Boy, talk about posting just a bit to late. To grow plants reasonably well, you will need about 100 - 120 watts of flourescent light or its light equivilent in CF lights. Do you have some $ to spend or would you need to go the thrift route, like me?

Oh my :(

Ok. Get a 48" plant and aquarium bulb from your local building supply store and 3 - 23W srcrew-in-base compact flourescent bulbs, the spiral space saver kind, preferably the plant growing kind. If you can't get that kind, get the cool white or lastly the warm white kind. The whole outlay would cost about $60 Cdn so it might run you about $35 - $45 US. You might have to put this off for a bit till finances look better.

Sounds good, maybe whenever I get my last check from them....

By the way, an *update* on the water colour...

It's been about 12 hours and it's still clear-er compaired to what it was. Maybe I'll do another huge one tomorrow.

Yeah, replace those incandecent bulbs with screw in flourescents and that will help a lot. Incandescent bulbs create a lot of heat but not any useful light.

Glad to hear the water is clearer.

*Hint* Put a big plate in your tank when refilling to disturb the substrate ALA possible. Pour on top of the plate.
