Pictures tomorrow I hope. I have 4 peacocks in my tank. At the store they look a lot different than they do in my tank. I THOUGHT I landed 3 females and 1 male. 3 being dull, almost colorless, one being a beautiful blue/yellow with irridescent scales in places. Now I have 1 fish that is a darker yellow, one that is a darker blue, and one that was light blue but is now a lighter version of the blue/yellow I mentioned earlier. No aggression to mention. Wondering if I do have the 1M:3F ratio or is I have landed 4 females.

Usually female peacocks aren't very coloful at all. Its hard to tell though by your description. Pictures will really help. :) How big are they?

In most LFS peacocks they use hormones in the fish to show a really bright brilliant color. Then when you bring them home they lose their color. This might have happend and screwed the colors up in the fish. Like the previouse person said, the females should be brown and have no real color in them, while the male will have the colors.

I'm not sure if this will help or not, but I came across this article about determining the sex of juvenile peacocks: http://www.malawimayhem.com/articles_african_01.shtml. I still can't tell with some of mine, since they haven't colored up much at all yet (some are still 1.5"), but maybe it will help you. :)

Thank you. Apparently I now have 2 females. The other two are no more.
