Hi All,

I have a 20L set up , tank cycled lots of baby amazon swords and a few rocks piled up to create hiding places.

I'm looking into cherries or something that will breed in my tank.(not feeders)
I also would like to add a snail or two.

Anyone have any suggestions and pics of cool shrimp that are relatively easy to maintain?

Thanks,
Pops:wall:

Yellow shrimp (also neocaridina) are also very nice. Mgamer has some available now. They are quickly becoming one of my favorites in my collection although I don't have any available yet.

Cherry shrimp and yellow shrimp are closely related, so either would be fine. Cherries are more common, though. For snails, a couple of brigs would be fine.

Brigs or Ramshorn snails are cool, I got cherry, but will have a few different when I have an available tank... I can not wait!!

i started off with red cherries, and what fun they are to watch. all my females are berried now and a few have already had babies. will be looking to get some yellows now i have had some sucsess with these fellows. i got hold of a pair of bamboo/rock/asian shrimp today and if i have sucsess with keeping these i might just set up a brackesh / salt water tank to try and breed them.........SHRIMP ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

good luck.

I would suggest you go cherries first. They're cheap, readily available and are very pretty. A dollar per cherry shrimp (online from breeders) will be your best bet, as petshops will often charge 4 or more dollars for one.

Yellow shrimp and other ones are a bit more expensive, so if you're still in the "trial" stage, I don't suggest getting them as starters. Unless you have a wad load of cash to throw around, then it's totally up to you.

thank you all,

I believe we will start with cherry and maybe later if all goes well check out mgamers yellows. We are also looking for other plants besides the Amazon Swords we have , Any suggestions? Something low light and will complement Amazons.

We are heading to TFP tomorrow to drop off so juvie Angels and pick up some supplies, maybe they will have something unusually.

Thanks again,

Pops/Pa

Java moss (or any kind of moss) is an almost MUST HAVE for shrimp. They love that stuff and it's a great place for them to have a constant food/snack source.
