Hi guys, i'm hoping you guys can help my angelfish.

I have had my tank set up for about 2 months now. All my other fish are fine, only 2 of my 4 angelfish are behaving strangely. All my other fish in the tank are fine, my blue rams and kribensis are laying eggs. The tank is a 125gal. The tanks has plenty of plants.

The two angelfish that are sick are still eating, but are constantly at the top of the water like their gasping for air, I do have an airstone running from one end of the tank to the other, all other fish are breathing normally. The two angelfish also appear to have a red line at the base of their dorsal fin. My other two angelfish don't have this problem. Also one of the sick angel's tail seems like its got a slime coating on it or a fungus. Their fins are also clamped. I was researching this and one common disease stuck, internal parasite. Does it sound like they could have an internal parasite? How can i treat it?

Water pramaters are fine,pH is 7.0, temperature is set at 27 degrees celcius Nitrite:0 Ammonia:0 , I feed them a range of foods, brine shrimp, flakes, cichlid pellets and algae waffers.

Tank habitants are: 4 guppies, 4 angelfish, 2 blue rams, 2 gold rams, 2 bolivian rams, 2 kribensis, 4 keyhole cichlids, 8 sterbai cories, 2 lizard catfish and 4 khuli loaches. This tank is a 125gal.

Please help, i'm willing to provide any other information if needed.

unfortunately I cannot be positive of the diagnosis.

are they not displaying normal colors? are the fins clamped?

Angels are prone or can carry 2 parasites that may be difficult to treat. Camallanus is a parasitic round worm and capillaria is a parasitic protozoan.

both will inhabit the internal organs (intestines and stomach)

both are treatable with Levamisole Hcl, flubendazole , fenbendazole.

you can try jungle anti parasite fizz tabs(prazi and metro)

One of my blush angels has fin and tail rot. Nothing else seems to be wrong. Parameters are good and there is one other blush in the tank as well as one all black cory. The angels have spawned twice before this. They are fed an alternating diet of spirulina, tropical, veggie, brine shrimp, vitamin booster and color enhance flake, BBS, frozen brine shrimp, micro community pellets, frozen daphnia and frozen spinach. The afflicted fish hasn't lost any of its appetite and comes right to the surface as soon as it sees me near the tank, just like its partner.

I started treating w/ Maracyn about five days ago. The fin deterioration seems to have halted but I was wondering if I could start treating with Permafix while I continue with the antibiotics. The Permafix is a botanical that's supposed to accelerate fin regrowth.

Almost forgot, I thought I'd read somewhere that fin & tail rot can be caused by either a bacteria or a fungus. If so how can you tell which is which and I wonder if I should later use Metafix instead of Permafix along with the antibiotic. LFS recommended the Maracyn.

it can be caused from ammonia burns and aggression.

possible if they have not spawned recently they may not be having 'marital' bliss.

I have had to remove females from tanks because the male became aggressive.. the female suffered fin damage and stressed to the point of slime sluffing off. she is fine now
