I have six cardnal tetras I just moved from a 20 gal tank with 8 glowlight tetras, 4 emerald cories. the water is 0 amonia, o nitrite, .25 nitrate Planted aquarium. PH is 7.4 temp is 78, and the cardnal tetras have small white spots on them and it looks like fin rot. any ideas on how to treat them? All the other fish appear fine, and the tank was set up in early december.

where are the small white spots? just the fins?

maybe its Ich?

The spots are all over the body of the fish, and all of their fins look a little ragged, any treatments?

anyone have any other thoughts? I've already isolated them, and I'm closely watching both the tetras, and the other fish that are still in the main aquarium.

Well, it's Ich. I was just suprised how fast and how much damage it already caused. I cranked up the temp to 82 for both the hospital and the aquarium they came from. I added Rid Ich per the instrucions, removing the carbon fliters. any other suggestions to help the poor guys?

you can prob bump the temp up a bit more 84 is where i try to keep it.
the cards should be able to handle it..the ick less likely to handle it. are the active ingredients malachite green and formalin?

pay close attention to the instructions also when increasing temp it's a good idea to add airstones as the warmer water tends to hold less dissolve O2.

thanks for the help, I'll look into airstones in the morning.
