Ok I'm still averaging 1 dead fish a day, to day it was my ghost shrimp, the days before where imature guppies, and a my glass fish and 1 a day... I had this happening last week and did as advised and dosed the tank with lifeguard for 5 days, I also switched to sand last saturday..
my water peramiters are (using API liquid test):

Ph 7.2
amm. .25 (i think due to the dieing fish)
trite .25 (also due to dieing fish)
trate 5.0+ less than 10
temp 79 F

On the other hans I have about 6 guppie fry living quit well here, (2 batches of 3 suviors of fry) the first 3 are 2twice the size of the other 3.

Any idea what is killing my fish?

You need to be doing more water changes, IMO. You have done a fishy cycle in less than 3 weeks and to top it off, completed a substrate change, most likely removing the bulk of your bacteria and dumped in a bunch of new fish. You are in too much of a rush to establish a tank and stock it.

I added 2 panyhose bags of the old subtrate in my filter, hoping to not run in to the loss of too much bacteria, I would love to get this right to have a happy home for my fish and plants

I agree. Also, did you do the switch with the fish in the tank?

No i removed the fish, to a 5 gal bucket with heater and airstones for 24 hrs to alow every thing to settle and clear up, working on a water change now
