Help still losing Fish

I'd be wary of using a brand of canister that I've never heard of or seen. I can personally recommend the Rena Filstars, I've really enjoyed mine and it's been extremely quiet and reliable. A UV sterilizer is unnecessary and I don't have one in any of my tanks, although it is a cool idea to integrate it into a canister.

Any ideas on why my fish are dieing

I'll look at the other canisterfilters, as of late september / early october I'm still pretty new to this

Your other fish are dying for the reasons that Rbishop mentioned. The tank is going through another cycle due to the substrate change, and you've stocked too quickly. Try to be patient- as the saying goes, nothing good happens quickly in this hobby.:) At this point, do not add any more fish or change your filter cartridges, and be sure to keep up on your water changes. You'll want to keep ammonia and nitrite under .25- change as much water as it takes to do that.

thank you, all of you, for the help...

My tank had been doing realwell until my last purchase of fish, which I think brought an unwanted addtion to the tank, which i treated, and now am trying to just get it all stable again

You wont have a stable tank until you have a fully cycled flilter. As others have mentioned you need to be doing daily water changes (at least once a day but perhaps more) because you have ammonia and nitrites in your tank.

You are aiming for 0-0 for each of these, or as close as possible to that. If your readings are 0.25 and you do a 50% water change you will halve the amount of ammonia/nitrite present which will make the fish a lot happier.
