i found them in my snail breeding tank. there are bout 100 or more and they are tiny and move super fast. they almost look like trash floating around but upon closer inspection they are little tiny creatures. what are they and are they harmful?

Are they very thin like thread? About half an inch long? I just found these in my tanks. They wiggle on the glass and also swim. I'm going to cut back on feedings, altho one tank has never been fed as it just cycled.

I wasn't sure, as they wiggled and then swam... Which I didn't know planaria could do.

Sounds more to me like nematodes, not planaria. Either way, they are indicative of tank maintenance (or lack thereof in lieu of overfeeding and/or slack gravel vacuuming, etc etc.)

As mentioned above, increasing your tank maintenance will get rid of them. The link provided above shows a salt treatment, which I completely disagree with - theyre not going to harm your fish or your tank, they're just unsightly.

:iagree:

Sounds less planaria-like...never known them to be fast in any sense other than reproducing :grinyes:

well they were short lived. about 2 days later not a trace of them. i guess my guppies ate them or the shrimp????? i know they arent living now. thanks for posting guys
