HELP!!! Whats wrong with my NEW Discus?

I have no idea of what the rocks are made out of, i'll try to find out.

I went to my local shop today, not where i ordered it from, and told them about the colour and the behaviour of the Discus. They said it is only caused by stress through shipping. And he said as long as it is brighter than before it is ok...he also said that baby discus's dont develope full colur until they get older. Is this true? As i havent heard of it before.

Also, do you think if i get more discus's would it feel more secure, and relieve stress a bit?

Thanks
Jonathan

i am using a API PH DOWN treatment to lower my ph, but it seems like its not changing the ph much.

I'll try to get some pictures tonight so you could see what he looks like.

I used that to try and lower the PH, it don't work!

where did you get the rocks? that can help us figure out what they're made of.

PH is much too high. They like acidic ph, around 6.5 and will do well with smaller less aggressive fish who also like acidic water - like neon and cardinal tetras. The arowana will growso fast and bully the discus. Better get that other tank right away if you want to keep your discus. Lol.

Discus do fine in his ph. There are many discus owners that have high ph. Clean and consistently stable water parameters make for happy discus. They don't need low ph.

you got some good advice from two tank

those discus are malnurished and appear to be suffering from it
'two tanks discus are healthy and that's what they should look like.
discus are shoaling fish and need 4 minimum in the tank ..they also do well with small dithers like cardinals.
the temp for you r discus should be minimumin the mid 80's I would bump it a bit more..also consider salt to help them out.
those discus need food..you should be feeding them several times per day..3-4 at least.

notice the sloping forehead?? sign of not enough feeding.

also they don't appear full also lack of food.

my suggestion would be to move the discus to a qt tank..bump the temp and add a bit of salt to the tank..
don't worry about pH..discus can acclimate to higher ph as long as it is not fluctating.
also do daily water changes

I do try to feed it, but it doesnt it again, i only saw it eat one blood worm and thats it, it wont eat again. my other tank now has other fishes in it (gold fishes)
But i have a small gold fish bowl type of thing with a pump and but NO filter-but i could always change the water on a daily basis? I have a spare heater for it aswell would that work? I cant swop the gold fish around, as the don't fit in there lol.

Thanks

No ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Please don't move the Discus into the bowl.

1st as a few have stated: Quit messing with chemicals and the PH.
I have 9 Discus in a tank that has a STABLE PH of almost 8.0 and they are fine. Stable is the key.You are causing more damage than good by trying to currently alter the PH. You really should know the kh/gh before you even try to alter the water. Your water has certain buffers and all the chemicals in the world will not change it if it not done properly.

Next Discus require warmer water temps than most tropicals can tolerate. 83 degrees should almost be a minium.

Although your Discus would enjoy some tankmates of its own kind,I would not get any more until you have acheived the type of care the fish will need.

Discus need a little more attention to detail/s for them to be happy and are not that hard to care for if their requirements are met.

You really need to get a test kit ASAP and find out wht your parameters are.A Discus or any fish for that matter should never be added to a tank without knowing the tank parameters and the type of requirements the species needs. If your tank has not cycled properly water changes would need to be done almost on a daily basis.

Good luck,I hope it all goes well
