Help!!!Will salt kill "good"Bacteria???

Am I missing something here or are you going to end up treating two tanks for ich? I agree, relax, and do a little reading in the archives for very specific, easy to follow, suggestions for dealing with the problem. I don’t mean take two weeks, but it sounds to me like you are charging off into a big hassle.

Everyone must think that I am crazy for infecting the q tank as well as having the ick in the big tank well I find its going to be alot easier on me to treat the q tank with the salt and water changes. The big tank is going to have the shrimp and snails and if I have to recycle I will. Until then it is sitting empty. I am freaking out because I have lost 11 fish at least in the last week or so, and I am very upset at the whole situation. Myself for not having the q tank before putting the fish in the big tank to begin with. So if I seem a bit hasty and unrelaxed its because I am stressed and sad :sad . I am sorry for so many questions but you don't know if you don't ask right... Thanks to all who are helping me out and all the info that you have provided you are all much so more experieced then me, but thats why I am in the newbie forum right.....lol. Thanks again all. :o

Do what makes you feel comfortable, no problem. Make sure to increase the heat in the empty large tank. This wil help to speed up the life cycle of the ich and since there are no fish hosts after a few weeks it should die off. I don't knwo how well snails and shrimp react to heat but I would go at least to 80F if not the full 86F.
