Hello,
i am soon to be getting a new 55g tank or 75g tank. looking to put central/south American cichlids in it and i am open to any suggestions.

Welcome! What kind of tank are you trying to setup (personality wise)? I'd try to make sure to keep central american cichlids with other central americans not South americans because of their difference in personalities. Generally CAs are more aggressive than SAs. Also the bigger the tank the better, just more to work with. Also make sure to research prior to buying any fish, that way you know what to expect.

As for types of fish you'll just have to look around to see what you like. Some of my favs are different species of earth eaters!

Thanks for the help

Sounds Nice, ill do that

Also Welcome! You have many stocking options -- I would suggest picking 1 or 2 cichlids you're interested in and then building around those. The folks here can offer you a lot of help with your planning.

If you want to stock medium sized cichlids(so you can have more without overstocking) try looking at firemouths. I saw one on youtube yesterday, they look really awesome once they get bigger and are cheap
