yup thats a brittle star. they come on corals like that all the time i have tons of em. they dont ever seem to get to large or harm anything

not much bigger than the size its at really...(tey usually die or get eaten before they can grow)different kinds can get huge though. mine has about 12 inch long arms

A micro star is definitely a great find. Even though they don't very large, they do multiple fast. Your wife should have lots of fun finding little baby ones. They are extremely cute and can move fast.

They are great! They can get picked on, but if they survive they are great clean up crew, you will generally see their legs emerge during feeding in an attempt to nab something with their little hairy legs.
