Hi,
We've had our fish tank for a month now, so we are in the 'cycle' trying to get the tank right to add in fish. We where told to get three fish to start with after 24 hours of leaving the tank running without fish.
All was going well, our fish had babies and life was good. Today we took some sample water into our aquarium store and they told use that the nitrates are too high. So they suggested that we replace 50% of the water and add some "tonic salts" to the water.
My fiancee changed the water and added the salts, but now the filter is making a strange sound and is not pumping out any water!!
At the moment we are at a loss of what the problem could be, I have looked at the seal of the pump and it seems fine. Nothing was changed just the water and the 'salts' added. Has anybody got any ideas of what the problem could be??
At the moment we have turned the filter off for a few hours to see if this solves the problem.
Thanks for any help
Jim
